Welcome to Northeast Artist.
Firstly, I would like to give you a little background information about myself and my art work:
I am from a town in the North East of England called South Shields, a coastal town of great beauty. I come from a seafaring family and had a career as a Captain on-board offshore vessels, but I am now semi retired and work on an ad hock basis as a Marine Consultant. I have travelled and worked in many wonderful places in the world, having seen some of the most breathtaking sunsets, which I feel have inspired my paintings of sunsets, seascapes and sky scenes. I have also widely travelled with my wife, to Asia, Africa, South America, The Middle East, Russia, and most of Europe. These are all places of great natural beauty and have inspired me to paint many different scenes. I teach Art at a local children’s school for life challenging disabilities when I am home on leave, and I have started local art classes at a mental health organisation, and a local memory clinic. Art is a wonderful experience which can bring you great joy at any age. My own experience is that anyone can learn to paint and draw. There is nothing better than looking at something you have created and personalised to your own insight. I have painted in many mediums over the years and find that oil is the best medium for me, oil lets you blend all your colours and gives you time to change your mind or capture something new and exciting in your painting.
